Recruitment scam awareness
Recruitment scams have become more common across our industry. Fraudsters pose as recruiters from well-known companies — sometimes using the names of real employees — to trick job seekers into sharing money or personal information.
We want every candidate to apply with confidence, so this page explains how our recruiters actually communicate, how to recognise a scam, and what to do if something doesn’t feel right.
How do legitimate recruiters communicate?
Genuine recruiters from DoorDash, Deliveroo, Wolt and SevenRooms will only ever contact you from an official company email domain:
- @doordash.com
- @deliveroo.co.uk
- @wolt.com
- @sevenrooms.com
We will never contact you from a personal email address (like Gmail or Outlook), a lookalike domain, or a domain that merely includes our brand name (e.g. “hiring-doordash.com” or “careers-doordash.co”). All legitimate roles are also posted on our official careers sites — if you can’t find a matching listing there, treat the outreach with caution.
What are common scam techniques to watch for?
Scammers impersonating recruiters typically use one or more of these tactics:
- Lookalike domains — email addresses or websites that resemble our brand name but aren’t our real domain (for example, “join-doordash.com”).
- Personal email accounts — using a free email provider while claiming to represent us, sometimes under the name of a real employee.
- Urgency and pressure — pushing you to respond quickly, skip normal steps, or keep the process secret.
- Requests for money or purchases — asking you to pay fees, buy equipment, or cover “onboarding costs” upfront.
- Requests for sensitive information early — asking for bank details, ID documents or financial information before any formal offer or verification.
- Unsolicited job offers — offering a role with no application, interview, or prior contact from you.

How can I verify that a recruitment communication is genuine?
Scammers impersonating recruiters typically use one or more of these tactics:
- Check the sender’s email domain against the official list above. Look closely — scam domains often use subtle misspellings or extra words/characters.
- Cross-check the opportunity on our official careers sites: careersatdoordash.com, careers.deliveroo.co.uk, or careers.wolt.com.
- Be wary of any request for payment or financial/sensitive personal information — we will never ask you to pay fees, purchase equipment, or provide this information as part of recruitment.
- Don’t click on links or download attachments from unsolicited or suspicious messages.
- When in doubt, don’t engage — instead, report it (see below) and we can confirm whether the outreach is legitimate.
How do I report a suspected recruitment scam?
If you believe you’ve received a fraudulent recruitment communication claiming to be from us:
- Do not reply, click any links, or share any personal or financial information.
- Report the suspicious email, domain, or social media account to us at [email protected].
- Include as much detail as possible (sender address, domain, message content, any links) to help us investigate and take action.
